Hurry Up!

Mind your bussinesFrom the Embarcadero’s On-Line Shop:…

The Upgrade product is available to registered owners of 2006-2009 versions of CodeGear RAD Studio, Borland Developer Studio, Delphi, Delphi Prism or C++Builder Enterprise or Architect products. For a limited time only, through Dec 31, 2009, registered users of all classic versions 1 through 2005 also qualify for upgrade pricing.

The interesting part is… “For a limited time only, through Dec 31, 2009, registered users of all classic versions 1 through 2005 also qualify for upgrade pricing.”

…considering that the prices for upgrade is approximatively a half from the prices for a new user, is seems a pretty nice offering, no? …and it works, believe me. There were guys in non-technical which already used it.

But, well, about the Embarcadero’s financial strategy perhaps we’ll do another post. Till then you can flame in comments here and in .public.non-technical 🙂

UPDATE: The above link takes you to RAD Studio prices page. But if you’ll go to Delphi prices page you’ll see that the offer is available also for it.

  1. “seems a pretty nice offering, no”. No – it’s pretty bad news because before you could qualify for the upgrade from *any previous versions* – and that’s a big step back therefore – if this is another idea to force “those nasty guys who refuse to leave D7” to upgrade IMHO is pretty stupid.
As I already written, in a time of financial troubles it’s a bad decision, especially for a product released towards the end of the year when most companies already spent most of their budget, probably, and could have thought to upgrade next year, and small developers may have a hard timne. I’d really like to know who’s keeping on damaging Delphi this way – I hoped he stayed in Borland or left, now it is clear he’s still with Delphi.
